MEN'S DEPARTMENT MANAGER - Armani Fifth Avenue

Description of Responsibilities:

  • To recruit, develop, guide and train a sales staff that is dedicated to driving the business
  • To achieve and surpass goals
  • To insure the highest standards of client service are maintained at all times
  • To insure all merchandise is handled appropriately and inventory is accounted for and monitored
  • To insure that the department collaborates with all other departments to insure smooth operation of department
  • To insure that all company policies, procedures and directives are enforced consistently and effectively

Overview of Critical Duties:

Sales Performance

  • Meet and/or exceed the departmental sales goals
  • Analyze store sales reports to determine the needs of the business which mandates a thorough understanding of reporting systems
  • Track, monitor and communicate business results
  • Seek out new ways to increase business
  • Develop each associate's individual sales techniques to maximize sales
  • Assign and monitor individual sales goals to staff
  • Insure all sales related policies and procedures are maintained inclusive of hold tickets, consignments, etc.
  • Utilize advertising and public relations to maximize sales
  • Insure peak sales profitability by controlling and minimizing expenses

Product Knowledge

  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of the merchandise
  • Seek to increase product knowledge among staff
  • Maintain a keen interest in the fashion industry and market trends
  • Know the competition
  • Utilize product knowledge to increase sales
  • Identify fit/product concerns in a timely manner
  • Insure product knowledge tools are available and maintained

Merchandising/Visual

  • Implement and maintain all merchandising directives
  • Execute effective merchandising strategies
  • Must understand the themes of each collection and merchandise in order to convey these themes to staff and clients
  • Build and maintain a constant communication with the buyer
  • Provide written and verbal information as requested by the merchandising department
  • Insure deliveries are properly processed and distributed
  • Insure the selling floor is neat, clean, organized and reflects the correct visual image at all times
  • Insure displays, fixtures and all visual areas are maintained

Inventory

  • Possess continual thorough knowledge of stock levels
  • Monitor inventory to control shrinkage, ticketing, sensors, and proper/organized storage
  • Oversee execution of stock rotations in a timely and effective manner
  • Supervise the staff in regards to the inventory and cycle count processes
  • Communicate stock level needs in order to support the business goal
  • Monitor the movement of all inventory and insure proper shipment
  • Insure all staff are aware of their responsibilities and duties towards inventory
  • Reconcile all inventory discrepancies in a timely and effective manner

Human Resources

  • Recruit, train and develop sales staff
  • Insure all Human Resources paperwork for department is processed correctly and in a timely manner
  • Insure all associates in the department are aware of and abide by all Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Insure consistent standard of image and grooming at all times
  • Schedule associates to maintain floor coverage while avoiding overtime
  • Continually evaluates the performance of each associate and provide constant feedback to insure results
  • Resolve all interpersonal issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Support, implement and provide follow-up for training programs, seminars, etc,.and insure appropriate attendance
  • Conduct staff meetings on a regular basis
  • Provide and document progressive counseling when appropriate
  • Insure timely and effective annual performance appraisals

Client Service/Clienteling

  • Insure that all associates provide the highest level of client service
  • Maintain floor presence to assist clients, build rapport and monitor client interaction with staff
  • Acknowledge all clients
  • Recognize repeat clients and encourage client relationship; maintain communication when appropriate
  • Insure staff maintains and utilizes client book
  • Insure staff maintains communication with client
  • Resolve all client problems and complaints quickly and effectively
  • Identify and implement new methods of increasing client base
  • Monitor client purchases and client database and utilize information to increase sales and client contact

Loss Prevention

  • Collaborate with and support Loss/Prevention department in all areas of risk management, physical security, store cash controls, inventory management, inter-store communication and L/P audits
  • Insure staff is aware of their responsibilities to Loss/Prevention and adheres by all policies and procedures

Alterations

  • Collaborate with and support Alterations department in all areas of quality control, inter-store communication, policies/procedures and alterations related paperwork inclusive of alterations tickets
  • Insure staff is aware of their responsibilities to Alterations and adheres by all policies and procedures

Point-of-Sale

  • Collaborate with and support the Point-of-Sale staff in all areas of register procedure, protocol and policies
  • Insure staff is aware of their responsibilities to Point-of-Sales and adheres to all policies and procedures
  • Insure staff is trained in all areas of appropriate register/customer profile/style locator use and maintenance
  • Understand and properly execute all management register functions, inclusive of opening and closing procedures

Shipping/Receiving

  • Collaborate with and support the Shipping/Receiving staff in all areas of stock, shipping, receiving, protocol,
  • policies/procedures and shipping/receiving related paperwork such as transfer requests, delivery requests, charge/send requests, merchandise receipts, bag labels, etc.
  • Insure staff is aware of their responsibilities to Shipping/Receiving and adheres to all policies and procedures

Special Events

  • Manage all departmental special events inclusive of trunk shows, client events, sale events, etc.
  • Provide recaps of all store events to the General Manager and merchandising department

Background/Experience:

  • Computer proficiency (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
  • Language skills not required but desirable
  • 5+ years of management experience in a similar high end related field
  • Experience in buying and/or merchandising
  • Sales Background
